Yes, this is made in China and the shipping took a long time, BUT it is the perfect ash shovel. The only ash shovel I could find locally was the common pressed shovel with the fold creases and a longer handle. Those bend easily (I found out) and I wasn't going to get another. This one is heat forged with a short handle stub and the width fits in the bottom of our three woodstoves. I can even move a scoop of hot coals to start another stove without fear of it collapsing. Good, simple tiny shovel head. Probably not too handy as a dirt shovel with a long handle attached, but perfect for the ash bucket.
