I can see why people complain about the price of this book. Look carefully - it is 5x8 - pocket book size - and only 100 pages. $31.95 is pretty pricey for that size. I got mine used for $8, so I was fine with the price. As a transplant from Iowa to Arizona, I found the book extremely helpful in learning the basics of gardening in the desert. It gives the fundamentals of soil composition, Arizona heat, water issues, and pests. If you're a transplant like me, get this book. You need it.Being new to the desert and wanting a vegetable garden, I first checked this book out from the local library. It is so packed with information I realized I would need to purchase it. It is very easy to read yet highly informative covering vegetable and decorative plant gardening. If you are new to the desert or want to try gardening in the desert I highly recommend it.A good book for the beginner just moving to the desert.I paid $30 for a book that had a pre-printed price on the back cover of $7.95, it is hard NOT to feel "ripped" off ! Why was the book so over priced ? I had no idea that I was going to receive a very thin, in-expensive book. I had read a review of the book, it sounded perfect for my situation, so I was very surprised to receive the book, look at the back cover, and see a pre-printed, price of $7.95.This is such a great book. It has some very helpful information and I love the monthly guides. If you live in Arizona, this is definitely a great book. The charts in the back are useful. The composting information is pretty good as well. The rest of the book is pretty basic.Maybe I am just not ment to garden... Everything died.Awesome quality! Looks like new & never used. Thank you!
